These paintings are part of my reflection series. They contain reflections of grasses from the Everglades on still water. Reflection is an allegory and an integral part of my profession as a psychotherapist in two ways. One, I spend a lot of time helping my patients reflect on the choices they made and the reason for their pain. Often this choices and needs are based on abstractions of reality. I help them clarify their needs and work through the pain to a better state of mind. Secondly, reflecting on nature is my way of cleansing the pain I hold for people as I try to help them move from pain into healing.
The Everglades is used because the Everglades reflects how we as human being treats that which is outside ourself. The treatment of the environment is indicative of how we feel about ourselves and the things that are valuable.
